Researching Campaigns!

Today Tom Woodcock the Secretary of the Cambridge and Districts Trade Union Council came in to our lesson to tell us all about campaigns, Tom knows alot about holding, researching and planning campaigns as he has participated in many, including; Save Jobs at Cambridge University Press, Postal Workers Strike, Stop the War Coalitio
n and Give Blood. They are only a few of the campaigns Tom has been in, he has participated in many more. Tom gave us lots of information about campaigning and what is needed to do to make a strong campaign. A Campaign that we have been discussing in class which Tom Woodcock participated in is The Postal Workers Strike, Tom and a team of others distributed over 3000 leaflets explaining everything about the dispute, they raised around £300 which they gave to the post workers as they were on strike and was not getting paid for the day off, obviously that wasn't enough money to cover all the workers wages but they were grateful for they were doing for them. The people who run this campaign have said: Ordinary people are not responsible for the crisis, it is the banker’s fault and they should be made to pay back the debt. This information is from the website : http://cambridgeanddistricttradescouncil.blogspot.com/

This is a picture from the campaign.
